How to play Gridiron Blitz

Gridiron Blitz is a seven-a-side arcade American football game. You pick a team and play a three-game playoff ladder against tougher and tougher opponents, and one loss ends your season. You call the plays on offence and defence and control the key player yourself.

Controls: Left / Right to choose a play and Space to call it; Space to snap. Passing: Space throws to the back, Left + Space to the left receiver, Right + Space to the right one. With the ball: arrows run, Shift turbo, E juke. On defence: arrows move, Shift turbo, Space dive, E switch to the player nearest the ball. On a phone: direction pad on the left; JUKE, TURBO and the big action button on the right.

Tips

• Wait for the routes to develop before you throw. The yellow markers show which button throws to which receiver.
• Slants beat man coverage, and the deep bomb beats a blitz if your line holds long enough.
• Save turbo for open field, and press juke just before a tackler reaches you to slip past him.
• On fourth down, kick a field goal if you are inside about 35 yards. Otherwise punt unless you need only a yard or two.
• On defence, switch to the player nearest the ball and dive at the runner's legs. A dive covers more ground but leaves you on the turf if you miss.
